ACS & Sainsbury’s award short-listing

The 18th European Supply Chain Excellence Awards takes place on Wednesday 5th November 2014 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Allport Cargo Services, in partnership with Sainsbury’s have, for the first time, been short-listed as a finalist at these prestigious awards.

The Supply Chain Excellence Awards, produced by leading industry titles; Logistics Manager and Supply Chain Standard are unique for a number of reasons.

Their focus is on the end-user, rather than the service provider in isolation and judging includes a formal presentation/Q&A session, which many consider to be the most rigorous process.

The Sainsbury’s/ACS submission outlines an innovative project which ensured that over half a million cases of products were picked and matched for store delivery, from over 40 global origins, to bypass DC’s and deliver directly to UK stores, within a two week window, for 100% availability by close on Christmas Eve.

Stock availability and pick accuracy surpassed Sainsbury’s expectations, resulting in the process being repeated for further events in 2014 and 2015.
