Allport Cargo Services in collaboration with Sainsbury’s, are celebrating winning their 3rd award for the innovative ‘stockless; direct to store origin pick programme’ at the BIFA 2014 awards in London yesterday, the 22nd of January. (The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is the trade association for UK-registered companies engaged in international movement of freight).
For 26 years, the BIFA awards have been a platform to reward and recognise high standards and professionalism across the various sectors within our industry. The Supply Chain Management award is given to companies ‘who have provided a customer-focused innovative solution enabling a more efficient and cost-effective management of the supply chain.’
ACS and Sainsbury’s working in partnership devised a strategy that revolutionised the way Sainsbury’s flow general merchandise product into the UK from overseas sourcing locations. The judges chose ACS as category winner for “demonstrating a very innovative approach to … overseas pallet building and container load planning, resulting in its customer seeing significant cost savings and increased productivity”
Clyde Buntrock, ACS Business Development & Marketing Director commented, “We would like to thank BIFA for their continued hard work supporting our industry and congratulate all winners and nominees this year.
Having also received a European Supply Chain Excellence award, and Lloyds Loading List Global Freight Award for Supply Chain Partnerships, here at ACS and right across our network, we are now focused on ensuring our 2015 projects continue to lead the way for the industry and continue to add value to our clients.”
