Our job-related training programmes begin with induction, moving through supervisor, manager and advanced strategic planning for senior management phases. Accredited by the CILT for its Academy scheme Allport Cargo Services has “one of the most comprehensive training packages on offer in the forwarding industry.

Charles McGurin

Joining us in December 2014, Charles has been in the logistics industry for 31 years, working for 15 years on the customer side in fashion retail before joining ACS’ then fledgling SCM division.  After spending 3 years with ACS, Charles worked for APL Logistics and then DHL  in a variety of senior executive roles.
Charles is passionate about developing services and solutions that
simplify our customers business lives and is looking forward to leading the successful growth of ACS within the Cargo Services Group.

Since 2006 Clyde has been the driving force behind Allport Cargo Services’ multi award winning Supply Chain Management product offer, supporting our retail customers in creating consistently efficient and innovative supply chains. With 20 years in retail supply chain, Clyde is often asked to speak at industry events. Now responsible for Business Development & Marketing, Clyde is helping drive the groups growth.

Douglas Briggs

Douglas Briggs

Raised and educated in Glasgow, Douglas has held senior executive roles at some of the
largest global forwarders and brings over twenty  years of broad-ranging UK and international
forwarding experience to ACS. Douglas sees his primary responsibility as safe-guarding
the business for all the stakeholders, while developing  a financial environment that will promote growth.

Ian Hunter

Ian’s blend of technical and strategic capability is rare. As is his experience with established and appreciation of emerging technologies. Ian will play a key role in keeping Allport Cargo Services use of technology at the forefront of the industry.

Steve Williams

With 23 years experience in freight forwarding, Steve joined Allport Cargo Services in the summer of 2014.  With previous director-level roles at DB Schenker and Panalpina, Steve headed up the air freight product for both working across all geographies and all types of air freight shipments from regular to project to charter.  He also has experience across a wide range of verticals  including aviation, hi-tech, healthcare and perishable goods.

Mark Rollinson

Mark is the newest member of the ACS Executive Board, joining Allport Cargo Services in February 2015.  He has over 27 years’ experience in freight forwarding, working latterly for Schenker UK for 12 years with a particular focus on domestic and international land transport. His responsibilities include Executive Director for our Overland Division & all ACS UK land Transportation as well as cross functional operational excellence.

David Licence

David joined the ACS team in 1992, bringing extensive knowledge of domestic and global logistics. After spending 5 years in the Middle East David returned to the UK and joined Evergreen, one of the World’s largest Container Shipping Companies.

Since joining ACS in 1992 David has been a driving force behind the Sea Freight division’s growth trajectory. Combining a wide knowledge of international trade with commercial strategy, David is also extremely passionate about building long term partnerships and exceptional customer service.

Alan Kenning

Alan has an impressive background in logistics and supply chain management, having worked in the industry for 23 years since starting as a management trainee with Maersk in 1992.  He stayed with the AP Moller Group and had a variety of roles, all with a customer and supply chain management focus.  He also worked for Deloitte Consulting as a senior consultant, in supply chain management. 

Charles McGurin, ACS CEO commented “We are very pleased that Alan has joined us; our Supply Chain Management function is one of the strongest in the industry, and we are sure that Alan’s knowledge and experience will help us to move forward into the next exciting stage of our growth”.

Alan took up his role on 7th September.

Jerry Gray

Jerry joined Allport Cargo Services in 1975 and has held many roles, in the UK and overseas. Following the merger with Cargo Services Jerry was appointed  as Joint Group Managing Director. Today Jerry is a Non-Executive board Director.

Simon Pearson

Simon has over 23 years leadership experience in retail supply chain; as a service provider and with Asda Walmart where his responsibilities included inbound transport, DC operations, global logistics, network optimisation, supply chain planning and strategy.

Simon moved to Shanghai with his family in 2012 to lead the Cargo Services Fashion Distribution business. He is founding partner of Simon Pearson and Associates, a global supply chain consulting business and holds a group role as Strategy and Development Director.

John Williams

After 20 years in the shipping industry living and working all over the world, John joined Allport Cargo Services in 2007. He has expanded the scope of the Overland division, moving into new markets and increasing services available to customers
