The first Allport Cargo Services Brexit Seminar – “Brexit -What You Need to Know” took place last month. Senior supply chain executives from leading retailers including Harrods, Monsoon, New Look, River Island, Urban Outfitters and The Dune Group, attended our Cowley Head Office where Ian Moran , ACS Group Customs and Trade Solutions Manager, welcomed delegates.
The aim of seminar was to explore the impact Brexit will have on organisations importing and exporting to and from the UK. It’s easy to think that if you are only involved with countries outside the EU that Brexit will have little impact; but once the UK leaves the European Union, it is possible that many trade arrangements will come to an end and need re-negotiation and this may take some time.
We were joined by Richard Walters of LCP Consulting – LCP are renowned supply chain consultants and experts in international trade. Richard helped the delegates understand the impact of various Brexit scenarios, to enable them to frame their strategic and operational response and how ACS can assist.
Allport Cargo Services are one of the UK’s predominant providers of logistics, freight forwarding and supply chain management services to the retail sector. Our mission statement is “to make customers’ lives simpler” and we recognise that retailers need to focus on their core business. We aim to enable this by ensuring that the international supply chain network functions efficiently.
This was a fantastic opportunity to learn from experts, and to discuss the key issues with them and peers afterwards. International retailers are operating in a continually disrupted and evolving environment and these events allow us to keep one step ahead.
For those that couldn’t make the seminar, there will be another held in Leeds in the coming months. Please let us know if you’d like to be on the invitation list.
