Global forwarder Allport have added to their West African capability with the acquisition of Ghana specialist, Tilbury based Merlin Shipping.
Founded by Roy Luscombe in 1997 Merlin has offices in the UK and Ghana, to support import and export services.
Moving the short distance from Tilbury town to Allport’s offices by the docks, Roy and his team will continue to operate under the Merlin brand, albeit as part of the Allport Group.
Jerry Gray, Allport’s Deputy Group Managing Director commented.
“Merlin Shipping, under Roy’s leadership, have become one of the UK’s leading freight forwarders in Ghana, which is why I think it is important that they retain their distinct identity. Their expertise complements our operation in Nigeria and raises our capability throughout the region.”
Roy Luscombe added.
I believe that today’s move is in the best interests of all Merlin Shipping’s stakeholders for three primary reasons;
- Over fifty years Allport has grown into one of the UK’s largest forwarders because, like Merlin, they are totally dedicated to building relationships with customers, partners and employees
- Allport have a long-standing presence in Nigeria and share our commitment to West Africa
- Allport’s financial strength and global resources provide the strongest foundations to develop the service we deliver to our customers
