Efforts to minimise environmental impact at export packaging manufacturer, Allport Packaging, part of the Allport Cargo Services group, have been recognised following a successful drive to halve waste sent to landfill.
The company’s environmental accomplishments have been acknowledged by the
International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) which has issued Allport Packaging with renewed ISO14001:2004 accreditation following an in-depth reassessment of its Environmental Management System.
The three-day audit involved examining the company’s recycling processes, which now sees all corrugated waste, all timber waste and the majority of polythelene foam waste re-used throughout the business.
Gas expenditure for heating at the company’s Silchester factory has also been reduced to zero with the installation of a bio-mass heating system which runs off timber off-cuts and waste pallets from other divisions of the Allport group.
The company has also implemented energy-efficient lorries and movement operated lighting.

The ISO accreditation is a mark of continual improvement in the field of
environmental sustainability and a testament of complete compliance with the latest laws and regulations.
