There continues to be much uncertainty as to whether the UK will leave the European Union on 31st October, or possibly 31st January 2020, or perhaps there will be a further delay. We are hoping that if the UK does leave the EU, the various parties will agree to an implementation/transition period which will give business the time to adapt to the new arrangements. Ideally, a two year period would be beneficial, however this cannot be taken for granted, so we do recommend that clients at least plan for a no deal exit as an absolute minimum, if arrangements are not already underway.
ACS has put together a number of easy to read guides which will hopefully assist your business preparations. The Brexit Preparation Guide is a comprehensive document which covers the key issues with links to various .gov information pages which will provide further guidance. The Brexit Health Check is a one page document which highlights the key areas clients should consider. The Brexit TSP Guide covers the Transitional Simplified Procedures that ACS strongly encourages clients to apply for if importing from EU member states. TSP enables most general goods to be imported without the requirement for a formal customs declaration which can be presented at a later date.
